
AGSA Minutes - January 16, 2004
In Attendance:
Brandon Lundy, Christopher Wahlfeld, Dustin Keeler, Dan Grover, Lori Eldridge, Heather Fried, Rod Salisbury, Renee Cadzow, Amanda Shero, Don Smith, Michael Roets, Jordan Leff (undergraduate), David Ingleman (undergraduate)
After calling the meeting to order, Heather Fried began a discussion
about the Colloquium series.
- APY student colloquium series of Spring 2004, Fridays @ 4:00 PM:
•David Ingleman proposed an opening for three undergraduate and
two graduate students to present their work in a joint session.
•Alison Des Forges from Human Rights Watch will be presenting on
the Rwanda genocide on January 23.
•Speakers will be taken to the Marriot happy hour after their
talks.
•Professor Steegman will be contacted about possible Physical
speakers.
•Gemma’s suggested Physical speaker from Hamilton, Ontario was
discussed.
•Professor Pollock will be bringing in a possible Physical speaker
in April.
•APY undergraduate club has a photocopying budget for colloquia
advertisement.
•AGSA is contributing up to $600 toward the colloquium series.
•APY undergraduate club is contributing up to $300 toward the
colloquium series from a Sub-Board grant.
•Honorariums for guest speakers were all unanimously approved by
the club as follows:
- Alison Des Forges Jan. 23 $25
- Chris Lee Feb. 6 $25
- Michael Lambek March 10 $25
- Dr. Adovasio April 16 $75
- Shawn Rafferty *pending $50
- Matt Smith (mdsmith2@buffalo.edu) is interested in reviving the
student journal (previously known as Discourse).
•Chris Wahlfeld was the editor for two years and has offered his advice.
•If anyone is interested in helping, please contact Matt.
- Unanimous approval was granted by the club for $130 to fix the
copy machine. The copier in the graduate lounge is now in working
order but needs toner. All APY graduate students are welcome to use
it as long as you bring your own paper.
- Unanimous approval for $___ for more toner for the printer.
After this discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
