We need to come up with specific requests and complaints to bring to the faculty. Requests currently include:
- Syllabus with specific information about requirements, assignments, objectives and dates for assignments and readings. The practice of having course covering different material under the same course number requires that syllabi be submitted. It has also been suggest that the syllabi be posted online with course guide. The syllabus should be turned in to Mary Anne so that they will be on file.
-A more diverse set of classes (each teacher have four classes he teaches on a rotating basis instead of two or three. This rotation should be of non-required classes, required class can continue to be offered once a year.
-Courses on how to do research. These classes can be cross listed with other departments if no professor is available.
-Make course requirements for masters more available to students.
A Users Guide to our department was also suggested and the consensus asks that the faculty participate in making this booklet. Email questions to Ryan so that he can bring individual questions up at the next meeting. For this faculty meeting we are asking that Dr. Berman mention that we are hoping to receive input from the faculty in putting together this booklet. Questions include clarifying that funding for Masters students is not possible, course requirements, etc..
On the Pena matter:
Every part-time professor in the University has been let go. To make it clear to the Dean and the President that Dr. Pena is more then just a number to us a letter is being drafted by Alex and Kathy. Dr. Pena's students are encouraged to read and sign the letter of support.
Repectfully submitted,
Jennifer Richardson ,(back to the AGSA)
