AGSA Minutes - October 03, 2001

In Attendance:

The planned community service projects for this year include:
-Blood Drive on Friday November 16th (First Choice) or November 9th
(Second Choice)

-Habitat for Humanity. Groups of volunteers needed to work on houses on
Saturdays. If you are interested in working on this project please let
us know.

-City Mission Shelter for Men on East Tupor volunteers work four hour
shifts from 8 am to noon making lunch on a Saturday or Sunday. If you
are interested in this project please let us know.

-Urban Christian Ministries is an after school program for kids 6 to 18
years old. The kids will be coming to the University to see what it is
we do. They will be accompanied by Urban Christian Ministries workers.
We would need to provide volunteers to educate and entertain them
during their visit. If you are interested in helping out on this
project contact:

          Jennifer Randall and Renee Verhoef for Physical
          Jennifer Muller for general information

-For additional information on these projects please contact Jennifer
Muller. Jennifer has been working very hard at getting this all
arranged.

-The Library is in need of plastic grocery bags in order to give them
to students who check out books. If you have extra bags contact Katie
for collection location.



Other News
-Posters are still needed to decorate the lounge so if you have extras
please bring them in.

-The Halloween Party will be at Eva Hulse and Casey Coke's House on
October 27th at 9 pm. 50$ for booze (Eva) and 50$ for food (Casey) were
allotted for the party.

-Interaction between the AGSA and the Undergraduate Anthropology club
will be increased by encouraging their participation in this years
Brown Bag Lunch and Dinner Discussion.

-A Dinner Discussion group will started beginning on Thursday October
the 25th. An article chosen by Bill this month will be the focus of the
dinner discussion. The article will be sent out on the list-serv and
available in a PDF file online at the Anthropology website. A hard copy
will also be on file in the Anthropology Office. The article that will
be discussed must be current (last six months) or a classic with a
lasting impact on the field. The dinner is pot-luck and 20$ will be
allotted for drinks for dinner (And given to Jennifer Randall). The
Dinner is open to Graduate and Undergraduate students.  The first one
will be held at Jennifer Richardson, Gemmae FIx and Jennifer Randall's
apartment.  Directions will be sent to those who are interested.

-Jessica Weaver will be added to the AGSA list serv in order to
increase interaction between the AGSA and the Undergraduate club

-Intramural Soccer meets Tuesdays at 6:30 to 9ish for games. If you are
interested. Please come out. The first game was a close 3-2 loss for
our team. They need Subs in order to ensure a victory.

-November 2-3 in Binghamton a conference on the Modern World System in
the Longue Duree is being held. If you are interested in attending
please email Jennifer Randall. The registration deadline is October
10th. Carpools are being arranged.
