I. First Order of Business: The First AGSA Informal Lecture of the AGSA Informal Lecture Series - The first lecture will be held Friday, November 10, 2000 at 3:00pm in room 261 Fillmore - Three presenters will practice their talks which will be given at the AAA meeting in San Francisco this month - The presenters will be: Holley Moyes, Clara Banderali, and Eric Fink - $50 was allocated to purchase food and non-alcoholic drinks for the occasion, El Presidente will be making these purchases - Jen R. will be making the signs - Anyone who is interested in giving a talk on this day is welcome and should notify Jennifer Randall by Wednesday 11/8 II. Second Order of Business: GSA Application for Equipment - Each year GSA can provide departments with NECESSARY equipment ranging in price from 250-1000$. - The deadline for the grant is November 28th - Several ideas were suggested for the use of this money with the overwhelming support falling under the purchase of a digital video and still camera. - Clara provided advice as to what kind and approximate price range (the best being around 4000$) - It was also suggested that tape recorders be purchased and just a side note, the office of the Mark Diamond Grant have a closet full of them and they may be rented for fieldwork - Clara and Sue will be writing this grant and will be open to other suggestions, please email or speak to them before Monday, November 13, 2000 III. Third Order of Business: Reimbursement for the Halloween Party - Food Purchases for the Halloween Party went overbudget and Monique Fortunato requested the reimbursement of 20$ - This was unanimously passed. - Dan Mazeau will also be reimbursed for 30$ - Sue made a final statement that Monique should be "expelled" from the organization!!! (Just a joke!) IV. Fourth Order of Business: Fifth International Women's Film Festival: The World through Women's Eyes - Rebecca Morrow of the Institute for Research and Education on Women and Gender has requested that the AGSA donate 50$ to the Fifth International Women's Film Festival: The World through Women's Eyes - it was unanimously voted to donate 25$ - The festival will be held in the spring and is on six Thursday evenings beginning January 18 at the Dipson Market Arcade Theatre on Main Street - The AGSA will receive one complementary ticket for each movie. V. Other NEWS: - 20$ was allocated to purchase ethernet cables for the grad lounge - ON-LINE Voting- (Unfortunately the nation has not adapted this so that we could know who the president is!!!!!) important decisions will be made at the meetings and so if people are interested they should try and attend the meetings, quick and dirty things can still be voted on line!!! Thanks for the interest! - 30$ were allocated for the purchase of a cordless phone for the grad lounge. A V-tech (whatever that is) will be purchased and the line will be split so that if El Presidente (which being the fastidious individual that he is, this will never happen) leaves the phone in his office and the door is locked, the phone can still be answered using the conventional phone. - The final note was that all members of the Anthropology Department are encouraged to participate and make your voice heard at the meetings!!!!
Repectfully submitted,
Jennifer Randall,(back to the AGSA)
