New Business:
- Christina Black, a graduate student from Media Studies, asked the AGSA
if it would like to Sponsor and Cosponsor a symposium and its resultant
publication that will occur in November. The symposium, which is financially
supported by many departments throughout the university, will look at art,
religion, and culture within modern-day African nations. This symposium will
allow people interested in African culture to get together and discuss relevant
issues. Many people will be attending, both local and international. It will
feature talks and exhibitions by several "big-name" speakers, while including
talks from several students and faculty from within the Anthropology
department. Next spring a volume will be published which will include the
papers given at this symposium.
To show support for this event and the research involved, the AGSA has
decided to take on the role of primary sponsor for both the symposium and
publication. In addition, the AGSA decided to cosponsor each event, providing
each $25, for a total of $50. All decisions were voted on and approved by the
present members.
Meeting was adjourned at 11:00am.
Repectfully submitted,
Daniel E. Mazeau,
AGSA Secretary.
