AGSA Meeting Minutes - 15 April 1998
In attendance: S. Murray (president), P. Hoeman (treasurer), E. Kjeldgaard (secretary), T. Sullivan, T. Bruton, D. Nolin, J. Floyd.
- Old Business
- Typing Party for first year students taking qualifying examination. We have not had enough response for the number of students taking the exam who are expected to request typists. More volunteers are needed.
- New Business
- Discussion of suggestion that club allocate funds for additional RAM for the Pentium and other computer expenditures. Vote to delay any expenditures on the computer until next fall.
- Move to allocate $60 for purchase of missing back issues of Current Anthropology to complete the collection in the Department library. Vote unanimous in favor.
- Move to allocate $150 for food and drink for the spring picnic. Vote unanimous in favor. Picnic will be May 9th, possibly at Ellicott Creek Park.
- Move to allocate $60 for food and drink at the typing party for first year students taking qualifying examinations. Vote unanimous in favor.
- Move to allocate $320 for back issues of Annual Reviews in Anthropology to complete collection in Department library. Vote unanimous in favor.
- Move to allocate $25 for purchase of new ink ribbon for printer in grad lounge. Vote unanimous in favor.
- Discussion of Carlos Bayon’s recent e-mail mass mailing about the department and specific graduate students. Decision to leave the issue in the hands of the department faculty and individual affected students.
- AGSA president Seth Murray will no longer be in Buffalo next fall. Per the AGSA constitution, it is the president’s responsibility to call the first meeting of the year, at which new officers are elected. Move that secretary or treasurer call the first meeting, vote unanimous in favor.
