Announcements
  1. Volunteers are sought to help in the anthropology library between 12:OO noon and 3 p.m. on Friday, October 17. Contact Seth.
  2. Colloquia. Our next colloquium paper will be given by Donna Bonner on October 3( We have commitments from several other speakers.
  3. Volunteers are sought to help paint Jennifer Braswell’s office on 1 O/l 7 at 3 :00 p.m. Paint and beer will be provided. Contact Seth.
  4. A discussion group on making the most of the upcoming (1 l/19-23) American Anthropological Association meetings will be held 1 l/6 or 1 l/7.
Business
  1. AGSA Presidency.Seth Murray resigned from the vice presidency and nominated himself for president and Jen Trunzo for vice president.Special vote held for President, Seth Murray elected unanimously.Special vote held for Vice President, Jen Trunzo elected unanimously.
  2. Halloween Party. Vote to allocate $100 for food and drink, affirmed unanimously. The party will be held 10/3 1 at the palatial home of Tom Brunton and Erik Kjeldgaard.
  3. Seth proposed allocation of money for ongoing purchase of Annual Reviews in Anthropology for the anthro library, to be voted on at a future meeting.
  4. Seth moved that we use any remaining money in our budget to purchase back issues of scholarly journals to donate to the anthropology library, to be voted on Spring 1998. Departmental Meeting Reports. Tom Brunton (senator) summarized GSA meeting of 10/8.
  5. Discussion of AGSA Listserver’s function and role.Issue raised of whether guidelines should be set for postings. Motion to amend list “welcome message” to explain role and parameters of AGSA listserve.
  6. Discussion of nomination of Anthro department chair.
  7. Vote to allocate money for refreshments:
    $25 for Donna Bonner’s colloquium.
    $25 for pre-AAA workshop.
    $25 for library volunteers (10/17). *
