
AGSA Minutes - April 18, 1997
In Attendance:

- Announcement of Colloquium. Judy Voelker will be giving a colloquium
May 2 at from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in room 261 MFAC. Tom Brunton moved we
budget $15 for refreshments.
- Discussion of Spring Picnic, to be held May 9. Tom Brunton proposed we
budget $150 for food and beverages, Judy 2nd. Vote Unanimous in favor.
- Discussion of Typing Party to type qualifying exams for first year
students. Tom Brunton proposed we budget $50 for beer and pizza.
- Discussion of what to do with remainder of this year's budget. Mary
Anne Schultz provided information on proposed journal purchases for the
Anthropology Library. Club voted to allocate $350, first to acquire
missing back issues of Current Anthropolog y and then to fill in gaps in
our collection of Annual Reviews in Anthropology.
- Phil Mitchell proposed allocation of $20 for price above GSA grant and
$30 for supplies (cable, paper) for the new Pentium to be purchased.
- Report from faculty meeting (Eric Larsen). This fall, Don Pollock will
teach a course on qualitative research methods that will meet the
requirements previously filled only by the Integrative Seminar.
- Discussion of new AGSA constitution. Tom will make minor modifications
suggested to him over the AGSA listserver and put the constitution up for
a paper ballot.
- Welcoming Committee. Formed a committee to handle Fall orientation of
new students and Fall picnic (Tom Brunton, Peter Hoeman, Dan Jones, Seth
Murray, Erik Kjeldgaard).
- Final budget voted on, in amounts following. Vote unanimous in favor.
- $150 - Spring Picnic
- $50 - Typing Party
- $350 - Publications Purchase for Anthropology Library
- $50 - Computer expenditures
- $15 - Colloquium 5/2/97.
