School Celebrates Groundbreaking for Kapoor Hall
On Friday, September 11, the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the building it will call home in 2012, when pharmacy will become the first UB professional school in three decades to move onto the South (Main Street) Campus and back into the City of Buffalo (Full Article)
Professor Murali Ramanathan and other UB Researchers Investigate Possible new Underlying Cause of MS
Murali Ramanathan, Associate Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences, is noted in a recent Buffalo News article regarding UB research that will test the possibility that the symptoms of MS result from narrowing of the primary veins outside the skull, a condition called "chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency," or CCSVI.Buffalo News article

2009 Fall Pharmacy Professional Practice Review Series
November 2, 4, 9, 11, 14, and 21
Goal - To provide a comprehensive review for pharmacy students in preparation for the January 2010 New York State Board of Pharmacy Examination. Areas to be covered include compounding prescriptions and sterile products, and preparation for the Part Three Written Examination.
Program Description - The program consists of two separate sessions, and includes lecture and laboratory components. Session #1 includes four lectures and a practice lab. Session two consists of a Simulated Compounding Exam. Registrants may register for one or both sessions.

UB Students Take Fourth Place at AACP Meeting
Mike Grota '11, Danielle Kauffman '11, Miranda Minhas '10 and Vikram Sundararaman '12 came in fourth place in the National Community Pharmacists Association Pruitt-Schutte Business Plan Competition at the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Annual Meeting. Since 2005, the UB SoPPS has placed in the top five in this competition. Congratulations!

Professor Reiman Wins AACP School Spirit Award
Congratulations to Professor Al Reiman for receiving the 2009 AACP School Spirit Award at the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Annual Meeting.
6TH Annual Student Scholarship Golf Tournament Raises over $29,000
Our 6th annual golf tournament, held on June 8th was a great success! Over $29,000 was raised and 98 golfers attended in support of student scholarships.

Students Take First Place During the Jeopardy Challenge at the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York Annual Summer Conference
UB School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences took first place in the Annual APHA Self-Care Jeopardy Challenge. P4 Team members Lisa Lederhouse and Victoria Adams (with pharmacist teammate Steve Giroux, Class of 1981) led the way in this close competition.
Four New York State Schools competed in the challenge: UB, St. John's University, Long Island University and Albany College of Pharmacy. This competition tested the students' knowledge of over the counter products as well as patient assessment and counseling.
