Matt has been with the Atlanta OSHA Training Center/Toxicology
Research Center for the past six years. Matt has also attended Daemen College in which he has achieved a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and Chemistry. During higher education
he also served as a teacher's assistant in general physiology and biology laboratories. In addition to attending college, Matt has also been heavily involved in the volunteer fire
and rescue services. As an internal firefighter at the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company in Niagara County, Matt instructs his fellow firefighters on fire ground safety,
emergency medical techniques, and hazardous material awareness. This has led to his line officer appointments of EMS Captain and 1st Assistant Chief. Matt has been
an Emergency Medical Technician for 10 years in the past. He has recently taken the Firefighter Assist and Search Team (FAST) School for rapid intervention team training.
Matt is also a specialist for the Niagara County Hazardous Material Team. He has been involved in designing and participating in various drills with both hazardous
material teams and multi-casualty incidents. Matt facilitates the scientific advisory position on responses and has served as the Training Officer for the team for three
years in the past. Matt has been focusing the team's training around Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) topics for the past five years.
Matt's educational background consists of over one hundred and forty semester hours in a Biological Science degree program. Matt has been given the honor of obtaining
Dean's List recognition not only at Niagara County Community College and Daemen College, but also as a National Dean's List affiliate. He has also completed numerous
fire and EMS related courses through the New York State Office of Fire and Control, and the New York State Department of Health. Matt has also completed several
hazardous material courses through the Atlanta OSHA Training Center/Toxicology Research Center at the University of Buffalo and maintains his competency with at least 40 hours of continuing education hours each year. |
