Suggestions for Course Projects

(Some projects may have 2-3 students collaborating)

  1. Various hydrogels in articular cartialge engineering.

  2. The changes in hip biomechanics following total hip arthroplasty; x-ray measurements  and patients' outcome.

  3. Review of wear of implant components in knee arthroplasty: How much wear will be induced by each degree of deformity in the knee?

  4. Review of wear of implant components in hip arthroplasty: How much wear will be induced by malposition of the acetabular component?

  5. Biomechanics of climbing stairs; calculations of the effects of various stair heights on loads at the knee/ hip.

  6. Biomechanics of standing up from a chair; calculation of the effects of various chair heights on loads at the knee/ hip.

  7. Review of transplantation techniques in cartilage and include cryo-preservation of cartilage and chondrocyte viability.

  8. Review of calculations of joint loading daily living and various sports activities

  9. Template note-generator in Java
