Jolene Rickard

Native American Art, Arts of Indigenous Peoples, Theory and Aesthetics

Professor Rickard has a joint faculty appointment in the Art and Art History departments. She is an artist (photographer) and art historian. Her courses on Native and Indigenous Arts in the Americas, and on Critical and Cultural theory expand the options and cultural terrain of our program.
 

Exhibitions - Iroquois Beadwork: Crossing Borders. A major traveling show she co-curated with Dr. Ruth Philips, Director of the Anthropology Museum at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

Prizes, Awards & Grants - received a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) for the exhibition Keepers of the Western Door, and another from the National Endowment for the Arts and the NYSCA for In the Shadow of the Eagle, an exhibition at the Castellani Art Museum, as well as five grants for various artistic, curatorial, and scholarly activities.
