"Power, Passion and Purpose:
Tulsa Race Riot of 1921"

Ms. Gates is a former high school history teacher whose pioneering work to reclaim and rescue the history of the Tulsa Race Riot laid the ground work for a class action suit seeking reparations.  Ms. Gates, a member of the Tulsa Race Riot Commission, will discuss her documentation of more than 400 narratives collected from the survivors of the 1921 Race Riot and their descendants.
