(a)Previously submitted work: submitting academically required material that has been previously submitted in whole or in substantial part in another course, without prior and expressed consent of the instructor; (b)Plagiarism: copying or receiving material from a source or sources and submitting this material as one's own without acknowledging the particular debts to the source (quotations, paraphrases, basic ideas), or otherwise representing the work of another as one's own; . . . |

Don't do it! It is surprisingly easy to detect, and the penalties can be severe – from an "F" for the assignment, to an "F" for the course (with "academic dishonesty" noted on your official transcript), to suspension and even expulsion from the university. If you are having trouble with an assignment, talk with your instructor. A conversation can bring out fresh approaches, and it is always possible to work something out. |
